immermodern! 2024 – Berlin and its streets
The 24/7 outdoor exhibition "immermodern!" in Berlin – Unter den Linden – was one of our largest projects in the 2024 calendar year. From September 5th to November 30th, 2024, every passerby could capture cultural impressions about architecture, urban development, and civil engineering for Berlin. This exhibition was specially developed for the 200th anniversary of the Architects and Engineers Association.
The exhibition is divided into two sections:
Section 1: Big streets of today
This exhibition illuminates Berlin's current status and rapidly reviews the last 200 years. It explains why the urban landscape appears as it does today.
The focus naturally includes Unter den Linden boulevard, but also examines the Kurfürstendamm, Swinemünder Straße, and the western axis among other areas.
Section 2: Big streets of tomorrow
Looking towards the future, visitors in this section of the exhibition could learn about ideas, concepts, and proposals from architects.
The "car-friendly city" concept is questioned here and challenged through clever architecture.
Task: Setting up an outdoor exhibition
This refers to several modularly designed, easily assembled, and particularly stable constructions that can be high-quality illustrated and are self-supporting.
- Production and Installation of printed banners, aluminum composite panels and their lighting.
- 32 medium, 9 small and 2 large displays
- 2-week installation period
- Construction of scaffolding systems, as the inner workings of the erectors.
- Project management with the exhibition management and scaffolding company for the assembly of the scaffolding systems.
- Follow-up on some displays due to damage.
- Fast delivery and installation of individual prints and lamps
- Dismantling of the exhibition
Material:
The exhibition could only come into existence through the interplay of many different materials.
- Banner
- Aluminum composite panels
- Scaffolding
- Concrete and steel beam weights
- LED solar lights
- Solar panels
Execution:
We began the assembly of the scaffolding systems in collaboration with Menke Gerüstbau. Our specifications for construction and statics, as well as the tightly scheduled timeline, were implemented and adhered to thanks to the professional preliminary work of Menke. The project was completed within our deadline.
At the same time as the scaffolding assembly, we began processing the aluminum composite panels, banners, and lighting systems in-house. These were created using various digital printing technologies, which contributed to a striking, perfectly coordinated overall design in terms of color.
Delivery and installation of the exhibition graphics were also handled by us. Since "immermodern!" was a 24/7 outdoor exhibition, we managed the project throughout its entire duration and quickly and efficiently replaced any damage caused by weather or human impact.
We also assembled the lights ourselves. They were installed by our professional staff and are powered by solar panels, providing themselves with green energy.
