Project:
Anamorphosis at the Ernst Leitz Museum
Tasks:
Production and installation of an exhibition graphic
Material:
Acrylic glass, aluminum tubes, plot film
Execution:
The museum of the camera manufacturer Leica has renovated its permanent exhibition. In the entrance area of the museum, we installed an anamorphosis, a representation that only forms a meaningful image from a specific viewpoint. The installation was previously created as a three-dimensional model through precise measurements of the space and was produced and installed by us. The upper part of the anamorphosis consists of a construction made of acrylic glass and black powder-coated tubes. The transparent acrylic glass holds the tubes in position and was suspended from the ceiling with steel cables.
The remaining circle and text parts were perspectively distorted and plotted from matte black high-performance film. The positioning of all elements was a bit tricky and was done using a laptop and a webcam. The final image was lightly overlaid on the camera image on the laptop, and based on this, the individual parts were aligned.
The sightline, from which the meaningful result can be seen depending on one's height, was additionally marked with a plotted banner. This was made from a special non-slip film and was adhered to the floor.
